Fuel Flexibility

In order for a power generator to be competitive in today’s energy market and provide increasing value to its shareholders, it is essential that it maintain fuel flexibility. Fuel costs typically represent two-thirds of power plant operating costs; keeping these fuel costs low can spell the difference between continued plant operation or retirement. Environmental pressures are also increasing the focus on reducing CO2 emissions from fossil fuel combustion, making fuel flexibility an even more urgent issue.

Maintaining fuel flexibility presents various operating challenges that result from burning lower-quality fuels or a combination of fuels such as biomass and coal. The Nalco Mobotec system provides a solution for these hard-to-burn fuels enabling a boiler to fire various fuel types with complete combustion while minimizing NOx generation.

For more information on how the Nalco Mobotec system can help your plant maintain its competiveness and reduce CO2 emissions while cofiring biomass fuels, please refer to the Biomass Conversion and Cofiring page.
